Just finished reading this book today. I'm finally up-to-date on my reviews. Yipee!



Okay, so book 2. Not as good as book 1. I didn't find as much of the Hawaiian charm that I loved so much from the first book. And I didn't really like the friendship struggle between Kanani and Celina. American Girl books don't usually have that much separation between friends in their books. I thought that Kannani's fear of surfing was a bit unrealistic because she hadn't really tried very hard in the first place. As I read, I thought it was kind of weird how Kanani didn't really try to find Jinx, and it wasn't constantly her angst. Not as well written or exciting/interesting as the first. I find this is a common theme with the second Girl of the Year books. This is why I think they shoud have kept it at one.



The only reason I rated this book 5 stars was because I just love American Girl. And it was so sweet and unrealistically perfect (as usuaal). :)
