Reading Log for Week of 4/27/12-5/3/12
Saturday 4/28/12 2 hours Pages: 128-266
From Kat's perspective, she did nothing wrong when she went away for a couple of months to school to pursue education and take a break from thievery.
From Hale's perspective, Kat left her father and himself to try and handle jobs on their own, not having enough people and knowing they would need Kat to pull it off.
From Kat's father's perspective, Kat left him when he needed her most to betray the family and go against what her kin does.
From Gabrielle's perspective, Kat acted flaky and silly to suddenly decide to give up the way of life of her family for centuries and decide to "play it safe".
" 'You were gone, Kat.' Hale wasn't teasing anymore. 'I know.' 'You were at Colgan.' 'I was only there three months.' 'That's a long time, Kat. In our world, that's a long time.'... 'Your dad and Uncle Eddie weren't the only people you left when you went away, you know.' Kat heard the words fly toward her across the tarmac...He looked away then back again. 'Either we're a team or we aren't. Either you trust me or you don't' (Carter 58)."
In this quote, Hale is really confessing him and Kat's father's perspective that Kat abandoned them and betrayed their trust.

Reading Log Week of 12/13/11 - 12/22/11
Thursday 12/15 Pgs: 1-36 30 min
and
Sunday 12/18 Pgs: 37-68 30 min
Here's the link to the awesome book trailer for it by Disney-Hyperion. P.S. I did not read this version with this kind of cover. I think it's the Australian version. It's way cooler than the other one, though! The U.S. version I did read looks like the kind in the trailer. Link: Only the Good Spy Young Book Trailer
Will Cammie be safe? Will she use a disguise to hide? Did Joe Solomon wake up? Does Cammie know something about her dad's death/was she there to witness it that would cause her to remember it? Was her dad's death hidden in her memory? Does the Circle want to use inhumane methods to recover her memories? Is Cammie's dad alive?
" ' We just want to take you someplace - ask you some questions. Help you...remember...some things' (Carter 243)."
" 'If you kill me, then who will take you to your father?' (Carter 243)."
These quotes are said by Zach's mother (evidently one of the leaders of the Circle of Cavan) when she is having a stand-off with Cammie at a cliff. The first quote says why Cammie is wanted and the reasons for questions 4 and 6. The second quote is Zach's mom trying to get Cammie to come with her because the Circle supposedly has her father. The second quote describes question 7.

Run (v): to depart quickly; take to flight; flee or escape
"With every step, I saw the last semester flashing by - Mr. Baxter staring at me through the dim lights at the Tower of London, holding my hand; Mr. Solomon pulling me onto the cold bridge; Zach gripping my shoulders and telling me to flee the tombs. With every memory, I heard one word over and over like a song.
Run.
Run.
Run (Carter 264)."
The word run is the basis of this entire story. It sums up what this book is about. Throughout the entire story, Cammie is running away from the Circle of Cavan. She may be surrounded by guards or in a safehouse but either way she is hiding and running. In the last quarter of the book she is mostly running. Cammie runs throughout the story for her safety, and, finally, she decides to run away herself to keep the people she loves from harm.

Reading Log Week of 11/29/11 - 12/6/11
Monday Pages: 191-end 30 min of Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy
and
Don't Judge A Girl by Her Cover Wednesday Pages: 1-42 30 min
Quote taken from Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy: " But I don't know-and that's the problem. Give me a code and I can crack it; tell me a joke in Swahili and I'll know when to laugh. I know a million different facts in more than a dozen different languages...Just don't ask me when or where my father died. I started to say all this, to ask the questions I need answered, but Mom straightened in the window seat. I felt her pull away. I found myself whispering Zach's words, 'Someone knows (Carter 232-233).' "
In this quote, Cammie is talking about the things that govern her life. The death and constant absence of spy parents, and the knowledge that her dad died in a way that no one will ever know; in a secret way. These are the rules of the lives of spies, the society of Gallagher Girls. These rules of a spy's life govern the society of Gallagher Girls all over the world as they carry out their jobs.

Thursday Pages: 43-78 30 min and Thursday Pages: 79-112 30 min

"But I didn't clap. I didn't laugh. I just kept hearing Mr.Solomon's voice-not in my ear-in my head. I remembered something he'd said in the helicopter. 'Protection is ten percent protocol and ninety percent instinct.' And just then my instincts were telling me to turn around (Carter 95-96)."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Big Ideas in this book are Danger and Friendship. In this quote, Cammie is on Macey's security detail at a campaign. She realizes that her friend, Macey, may be in danger by using her spy instincts. In this book, in order to protect themselves from danger and harm, Cammie and her roommates (as well as friends) stick together at all times.

My Don't Judge A Girl by Her Cover by Ally Carter Book Review on Goodreads
Don't Judge a Girl by Her Cover by Ally CarterMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
Awesome! I'd completely forgot about the ending! I just remembered that there was a campaign and she got kidnapped. A lot of the book was a bit too dramatic, though. I, overall, enjoyed it though. I just REALLY need to start reading the fourth book and get to the point of rereading the whole story. The ending was a TOTAL cliffhanger, but not a very good one. Still a top on my list.

My Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy by Ally Carter Book Review on Goodreads
Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy by Ally CarterMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
Awesome! A bit slow since most of it was just the Operatives plotting to find out who the boys were. Not much action except at the end. I completely CANNOT wait to reread the next book because I completely forget what happens. All in all, a nice transition book from the excitement of the first book to the intense third book.

My I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You by Ally Carter Book Review on Goodreads
I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You by Ally CarterMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
I thought that this book was amazing, even to re-read. I absolutely COULD NOT put it down! *SPOILER ALERT* I loved the part at the end where she was going to Dillon and Josh to tell him and she was deciding on whether or not to do Cove-Ops next semester. I thought that was an extremely meaningful and well-written piece. The action in this book was never-ending. There was never a dull moment for the Gallagher Girls. I wish I could go to the Galllagher Academy!
