My Party Princess by Meg Cabot Book Review on Goodreads

Party Princess (The Princess Diaries, #7)Party Princess by Meg Cabot

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was just as wonderful as the others. The only thing that's different is that as each book progresses, Mia faces more mature issues in the books, so some of the silliness is lost now. For the most part, the books still have the same core things that you've always loved them for though. This book was pretty good, I just had a few issues.

Well, one problem that I really have had with Mia since she started dating Michael is her immaturity. I mean, she really should have known better than to go to Michael's party and do stereotypical party things, because chances are what those things are aren't that realistic. In real life, (if I were her) I would assume that the tales of college parties are probably wrong, or at least wait to see what everyone else is actually doing. She was just acting so immature and me, a couple years younger, was going, "What are you doing?" I just couldn't believe it. And I don't really remember the other books when she was going out with Michael, but I think she did this kind of immature assumption thing before (well as far as Michael goes; I know she does it with everything else). I don't know, but this really irked me (well I guess maybe just because this was the major conflict of the story).

A comment just in general about Mia and the series: I think that the reason people continue to read this book and the series is because of Mia. She is such a personable character, and yesterday I finally realized that there is no Mia Thermopolis in real life. Something about her writing and personal style makes you love her and feel like you are her. GO MIA!

Overall, this book was just as awesome as the others except I was pretty angry with Mia about the whole immaturity thing. Read it if you've read the rest of the series.

Reading Log Week of 12/13/11 - 12/22/11

         Thursday 12/15 Pgs: 1-36 30 min
         and
         Sunday 12/18 Pgs: 37-68 30 min

Here's the link to the awesome book trailer for it by Disney-Hyperion. P.S. I did not read this version with this kind of cover. I think it's the Australian version. It's way cooler than the other one, though! The U.S. version I did read looks like the kind in the trailer. Link: Only the Good Spy Young Book Trailer

Will Cammie be safe? Will she use a disguise to hide? Did Joe Solomon wake up? Does Cammie know something about her dad's death/was she there to witness it that would cause her to remember it? Was her dad's death hidden in her memory? Does the Circle want to use inhumane methods to recover her memories? Is Cammie's dad alive?

" ' We just want to take you someplace - ask you some questions. Help you...remember...some things' (Carter 243)."
" 'If you kill me, then who will take you to your father?' (Carter 243)."

These quotes are said by Zach's mother (evidently one of the leaders of the Circle of Cavan) when she is having a stand-off with Cammie at a cliff. The first quote says why Cammie is wanted and the reasons for questions 4 and 6. The second quote is Zach's mom trying to get Cammie to come with her because the Circle supposedly has her father. The second quote describes question 7.

Run (v): to depart quickly; take to flight; flee or escape

"With every step, I saw the last semester flashing by - Mr. Baxter staring at me through the dim lights at the Tower of London, holding my hand; Mr. Solomon pulling me onto the cold bridge; Zach gripping my shoulders and telling me to flee the tombs. With every memory, I heard one word over and over like a song.
Run.
Run.
Run (Carter 264)."

The word run is the basis of this entire story. It sums up what this book is about. Throughout the entire story, Cammie is running away from the Circle of Cavan. She may be surrounded by guards or in a safehouse but either way she is hiding and running. In the last quarter of the book she is mostly running. Cammie runs throughout the story for her safety, and, finally, she decides to run away herself to keep the people she loves from harm.

My Only the Good Spy Young by Ally Carter Book Review on Goodreads

Only the Good Spy Young (Gallagher Girls, #4)Only the Good Spy Young by Ally Carter

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There are no words for what happened, but I will say this: Cammie is really mature now because she knew that she had to risk hurting herself in order to save everyone else, a true act of selflessness. Really, though, there are no words. I'm still in shock. I'm glad I waited until now to read it when it's so close to when the new one comes out otherwise I would have been in agony waiting and then I would have forgotten what happened by March.

My Don't Judge A Girl by Her Cover by Ally Carter Book Review on Goodreads

Don't Judge a Girl by Her Cover (Gallagher Girls, #3)Don't Judge a Girl by Her Cover by Ally Carter

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Awesome! I'd completely forgot about the ending! I just remembered that there was a campaign and she got kidnapped. A lot of the book was a bit too dramatic, though. I, overall, enjoyed it though. I just REALLY need to start reading the fourth book and get to the point of rereading the whole story. The ending was a TOTAL cliffhanger, but not a very good one. Still a top on my list.

My Divergent by Veronica Roth Book Review on Goodreads

Divergent (Divergent, #1)Divergent by Veronica Roth

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is one of the better books I've read! A bit too serious at the end for my taste, but I still loved this book! I absolutely COULD NOT put this book down! The great thing about this book is that you can totally see this as happening in real life. This was good in a different way than most of the books I've read. It's a different kind of book, but it was still amazing. I predicted correctly from nearly the beginning that Al would kill himself and that Four's name stood for his four fears. Usually I'm not good at that kind of thing, but maybe I'm good at predicting dystopian thrillers. I can't wait to read Insurgent!

My Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy by Ally Carter Book Review on Goodreads

Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy (Gallagher Girls, #2)Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy by Ally Carter

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Awesome! A bit slow since most of it was just the Operatives plotting to find out who the boys were. Not much action except at the end. I completely CANNOT wait to reread the next book because I completely forget what happens. All in all, a nice transition book from the excitement of the first book to the intense third book.

My Being Nikki (Airhead, #2) by Meg Cabot Book Review on Goodreads

Being Nikki (Airhead, #2)Being Nikki by Meg Cabot

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So torturous at the end! I don't care what she thinks Brandon will do to her! She can overcome that, she just has to keep Christopher! Brandon's such a scumbag! She should have just told Christopher that Brandon was forcing her to, Christopher could have protected her! I am so tortured! Everything was so perfect! WHY DID HE HAVE TO RUIN EVERYTHING!!!?????Gaaaaahhh!!! Either way, this book was really good! I couldn't put it down! That's the fastest I've finished a book in ages.

My Kitchen Princess: Volume 10 by Natsumi Ando Book Review on Goodreads

Kitchen Princess, Vol. 10 (Kitchen Princess, #10)Kitchen Princess, Vol. 10 by Natsumi Ando

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this book so much! The Hagio-sensei part was sad, but overall I loved it! I was so happy when Seiya an Najika just became friends and Seiya and Akane started liking each other. I loved when Daichi and Najika started crying after he said, "I love you." So emotional. This book was more about romance than the earlier ones.

My Kitchen Princess: Volume 9 by Natsumi Ando Book Review on Goodreads

Kitchen Princess, Vol. 9 (Kitchen Princess, #9)Kitchen Princess, Vol. 9 by Natsumi Ando

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So many plot twists! I loved the part where Akane was like, "I'm over it." I also liked how Najika rejected Seiya and started liking Daichi. I definitely loved how Daichi remembered what really happened. I was heartbroken when I saw little Sora beg his dad not to tell Daichi. It was so heartbreaking! The last page was my fav. This is definitely my fav Kitchen Princess so far.
