Valentine Princess by Meg CabotMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
This review will be very short considering it's a quarter volume of a book.
This book was one of the better mini stories, I think largely because I can connect very personally to a lot of her struggles with having to try and share a special Valentine's Day with someone who thinks it's a "Hallmark Holiday". That's why I decided to give it five stars, for it's personal value for me and the lessons it taught me. I truly thought that this book's plot was actually kind of original, and cute. I loved the idea of them having a romantic dinner together on February 15th at the end. I thought that was the sweetest way to end the story! I really enjoyed learning about the various speculated histories of Saint Valentine's Day, and thought that this was a cute way to incorporate educational value into the story. If only my Saint Valentine's Days could end like hers did. *sigh* Well, there's always high school!
Overall, this story was a timeless story of what Christmas- er, Saint Valentine's Day is all about. Not flowers, not chocolate, not cards, but the pure joy of telling someone you care and apreciating their love (unlike Lily)is what the holiday is really about. I hope that I will be able to incorporate this lesson into next Saint Valentine's Day, as I read this yesterday when the holiday had just recently passed.
