My CYRM Every Soul A Star by Wendy Mass Book Review on Goodreads

Every Soul A StarEvery Soul A Star by Wendy Mass
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow, well that was amazing to read again. I was rereading this book because it was nominated for the California Young Reader Medal (CYRM) and I read the books so I can vote on the winner. I am so torn this year as to who to vote for. The past 2 years' nominees of this middle school level haven't been that good, but this year is absolutely AMAZING! Waiting for Normal and Revolution Is Not a Dinner Party are so good too! I was sure that Every Soul A Star (as usual, the only good book) would be my vote by a landslide. I thought I wouldn't even have to reread it to make a more refined decision because all the others would be so terrible. Oh, no! That is NOT the case! I have NO idea who to vote for now! They should all win!

Let me just start by saying that Wendy Mass's books are awesome! They're so different and they relly are super moving. And educational. Like A Mango Shaped Space (I have a review on here). That was a book about synesthesia (which I promptly looked up on the web) and this one was about the messier objects, planets, galaxies, and ECLIPSES (I also looked this up on the web right afterward, too)!

This book was just so AWESOME! As usual, the second time around was not nearly as good as the first. I still loved this book beyond all measure. How to describe it? Well, for first time readers, this book will drive you insane by the end. Everything fits so perfectly well together and is an extraordinary tale of three strange friends. My favorite part was the friendship of Melanie, Kenny, Ryan, Bree, Jack, and Ally. I would have loved to be there in that shed. It's just kids being alone without grown-ups, and having a ton of fun while being three unlikely science nerds. I'm glad that the author chose not to keep Bree out of that sceen because it just wouldn't have made sense. How does she make up these stories?!

Overall, an amazing read that you should be sure not to miss! Who to vote for? Only time will tell!
